Beauty Tips

For attractive lips, speak words of kindness.

For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.

For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.

For beautiful hair, let a child run his or her fingers through it
once a day.

For poise, walk with the knowledge you’ll never walk alone.

People, even more than things, have to be restored, renewed,
revived, reclaimed, and redeemed; never throw out anybody.

Remember, If you ever need a helping hand, you’ll find one at
the end of your arm.

Obasanjo’s Son , 4 Others Flown To Abuja After Boko Haram Attack

President Olusegun Obasanjo’ s son, Lt . Col . Adeboye Obasanjo, who was ambushed and shot along with other soldiers Monday in Mubi , has been flown to Abuja for further medical treatment . A Defence Headquarters source confirmed to P. M. NEWS  Tuesday that Lt . Col . Obasanjo and four other soldiers who were injured during the attack in Mubi , were airlifted to Abuja Tuesday after they were treated at the Military Base Hospital in Maiduguri.

The source said the victims were responding to treatment and in stable condition but declined to provide further details. Lt . Col . Obasanjo was shot in the thigh and right hand when he and his platoon came under attack by Boko Haram militants at Baza , which is the village of the General Officer Commanding ( GOC ) of the 3rd Division. Twenty -four
soldiers in the platoon were reportedly killed by the militants.

According to reports , Lieutenant Agwu of the 234 Battalion, GOC of the 3rd Division, Major Gen . J. S . Zaruwa and Colonel Victor Ebhaleme , the Brigade Commander of the 23rd Army Brigade in Yola , were advancing towards Michika when Boko Haram ambushed them . The terrorists also seized the military ’ s armoured tank after the attack, prompting the army to relocate sensitive weapons from Mubi to the Brigade headquarters in Yola . Following Monday ’ s fierce gun battle, Mubi has been deserted while schools have been shut .

Stop for a Moment

With human minds we emotionally bind ourselves
to things we cannot see.
Hopelessly setting a course that will deprive us of
the strings of peace that were given to you and me.
We often pass up rainbows, a spring shower, a
sunset, or even just a smile.

Yet in the name of prosperity and growth we’ll go
the extra mile.
God gave us the ability to experience the delicate
sides of this earth.
But often we don’t allow ourselves to fully
appreciate what it’s worth.
Have you ever whistled with a songbird, been
touched by a breeze, or smelt the seasons in the
air?
Or did you just consider them daily problems and
not ever really care?

Have you ever had a falling leaf placed gently at
your feet?
Carried by a loving wind just for you to meet.
Did you let it say good morning friend, or kick it to
the side?
Thinking that you’re late for work or you’ll never
catch your ride.
During a crowded traffic jam have you ever looked
up high?
To see how God directs the clouds as they go flying
through the sky.

What was your thought today as you tumbled out of
bed?
“Thank you Lord for this day” or “Man do I feel
dead”.
You see it’s up to us to find these things as we’re
traveling down life’s road.
Because God sends these gifts to cross our paths
and relieve or heavy load.

Peniel

Genesis 32:22-30
“The same night he arose and took his two wives, his two female servants, and his eleven children, and crossed the ford of the Jabbok. He took them and sent them across the stream, and everything else that he had. And Jacob was left alone. And a man wrestled with him until the breaking of the day. When the man saw that he did not prevail against Jacob, he touched his hip socket, and Jacob’s hip was put out of joint as he wrestled with him. Then he said, “Let me go, for the day has broken.” But Jacob said, “I will not let you go unless you bless me.” And he said to him, “What is your name?” And he said, “Jacob.” Then he said, “Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel, for you have striven with God and with men, and have prevailed.” Then Jacob asked him,
“Please tell me your name.” But he said, “Why is it that you ask my name?” And there he blessed him. So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel [means “the face of God”], saying, “For I have seen God face to face, and yet my life has been delivered.”

When the Scriptures say “The same night” it was the night before he was to meet with his brother Esau who he had stolen the birthright from and
Jacob was worried that Esau would kill him since Esau had a large number of men with him. When Jacob wrestled with a “man” until the dawn (“breaking of the day”) he saw that Jacob was not going to give up. Jacob asked what this man’s name was but in the Jewish culture, when you asked for someone’s name, it was the same as saying you have preeminence or dominance over them and that is why the other man said “Why is it that you ask my name?” Then he blessed Jacob and Jacob’s name was then changed to Israel which in the Hebrew is “ Yisra’el” and means “God prevails” which God did when He wrestled with Jacob. This
may have been a preincarnate appearance of Christ. This may be why Jacob named the place “Peniel” which in Hebrew is “Pĕnuw’el” which
means “facing God.” Jacob faced God and didn’t give up. Do you wrestle to find the will of God? Many of us do. Do like Jacob did. Don’t give up, be
persistent. You might not see the face of God but you may find His will. If you stay in the Word of God and wrestle with it, you will find the revealed
will of God which can show you the specific will of God for your life which does not appear in Scriptures.

Leader of Qaeda-Linked Somali Group Is Dead, U.S. Says

NEWPORT, Wales — The American airstrikes on Monday against the Shabab, the Qaeda-linked militant network in Somalia, succeeded in killing the group’s leader, Ahmed Abdi Godane, the Pentagon announced Friday. “We have confirmed that Ahmed Godane, the co- founder of al-Shabab, has been killed,” the Pentagon press secretary, Rear Adm. John Kirby, said in a statement. He called the death of Mr. Godane “a major
symbolic and operational loss” to the Shabab. Defense officials had waited several days to confirm that Mr. Godane was indeed killed in the
strike.

Nigeria Govt orders schools to resume September 22

The Nigerian government has reviewed the resumption date for schools by three weeks. All private and public schools are to resume September 22, not October 13 as earlier announced. The October schedule was to curtail the spread of Ebola in Nigeria where six people have died of the virus. The date was an extension of the initial plan for schools to reopen new sessions second week of September after the long break.

Proprietors of private schools had complained about the October date, and had urged the government to consider early resumption. After an emergency meeting in Abuja on Friday, the Minister of Education, Ibrahim Shekarau, said all public and private schools in the country should resume on 22 September. Mr. Shekarau said all federal government colleges should also adhere to the new resumption date, and said measures put in place to curb the spread of Ebola are still intact.

The minister added that any Ministry of Education in the 36 states that has not appointed desk officers on Ebola should do that before the resumption. He added that the ministries should ensure that at least two
staff in each school – both public and private — are trained by appropriate health workers on how to handle any suspected case of Ebola. He added that they should embark on immediate sensitization of teaching and non-teaching staff in schools on preventive measures.
Mr. Shekarau ordered that the training must be concluded before schools resumes.

BOKO HARAM: Scores slaughtered in captured Gamboru-Ngala

Scores of people have been slaughtered by Boko Haram insurgents in Gamboru-Ngala, a border community with Cameroon which they captured in recent raids, according to reports from Hausa Service of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) reports.

The extremists seized the town last week after taking over military and police facilities in a fierce gun battle which forced thousands of residents and some soldiers across the border into Cameroon. Residents said, the sect members embarked on house-to-house raid, forcing youths between 15 and 20 years old to either join them or be killed. “Initially, they said we were free to stay or leave, but now, they are saying all residents should leave the town because it is now an Islamic Caliphate,” a resident said.

The residents fled to Fotokol, Cameroon for fear of attack by the militants, despite being told they were only after security personnel and local vigilantes. “They are now killing people like chickens; they started by selective killings and later went on a killing spree. They threaten to kill anybody who refuses to leave the town. They say we don’t belong,” he added.

Things aren’t always what they seem

Two traveling angels stopped to spend the night in the home of a wealthy family. The family was rude and refused to let the angels stay in the mansion’s guest room. Instead, the angels were given a space in the cold basement. As they made their bedroom the hard floor, the older angel saw a hole in the wall and repaired it. When the younger angel asked why, the older angel replied…. “Things aren’t always what they
seem.”

The next night the pair came to rest at the house of a very poor, but very hospitable farmer and his wife. After sharing what little food they had, the couple let the angels sleep in their bed where they could have a good nights’ rest. When the sun came up the next morning the angels found the farmer and his wife in tears. Their only cow, whose milk had been
their sole income, lay dead in the field. The younger angel was infuriated and asked the older angel “How could you have let this happen!? The first man had everything, yet you helped him,” she accused. “The second
family had so little, but was willing to share everything and you let their cow die.”

“Things aren’t always what they seem,” the older angel replied.”When we stayed in the basement of the mansion, I noticed there was gold stored in that hole in the wall. Since the owner was so obsessed with greed and unwilling to share his good fortune, I sealed the wall so he wouldn’t find it. Then last night as we slept in the farmers bed, the angel of death came for his wife. I gave her the cow instead. “Things aren’t always what they seem.”

Your angel

Once upon a time there was a child ready to be born. So one
day he asked God: “They tell me you are sending me to earth
tomorrow but how am I going to live there being so small and
helpless?”
God replied, “Among the many angels, I chose one for you. She
will be waiting for you and will take care of you.”
“But tell me, here in Heaven, I don’t do anything else but sing
and smile, that’s enough for me to be happy.”
“Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you every
day. And you will feel your angel’s love and be happy.”
“And how am I going to be able to understand when people
talk to me, if I don’t know the language that men talk?”
“Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words
you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your
angel will teach you how to speak.”
“And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?”
“Your angel will place your hands together and will teach you
how to pray.”
“I’ve heard that on earth there are bad men. Who will protect
me?”
“Your angel will defend you even if it means risking its life.”
“But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore.”
“Your angel will always talk to you about me and will teach
you the way for you to come back to me, even though I will
always be next to you.”
At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices
from earth could already be heard, and the child in a hurry
asked softly:
“Oh God, if I am about to leave now, please tell me my angel’s
name.”
“Your angel’s name is of no importance, you will call your
angel: mommy

EBOLA: Doctor, Pharmacist isolated in Rivers

Three persons — a doctor, a Pharmacist and another person — among those who had primary contact with the  late Dr. Ikechukwu Sam Enemuo, the first Ebola victim in Rivers State, have been quarantined
after showing symptoms of the virus, the Rivers State Commissioner for Health has said. The results of their tests are however still being awaited. The late doctor Emenuo’s widow, who has tested positive to the virus is receiving treatment in Lagos. Dr. Sampson Parker stated this on Sunday in an update on the outbreak of Ebola in Port Harcourt.
